Wikipedia ZOI:  Zone of Influence, like around a Black Lives Matter movement One View on Private Militias: Commenters in article: Lindsay Schubiner, program director at the Western States Center Kevin Mathewson, a leader of the Kenosha Guard Oren Segal, the vice president of the Center on Extremism at the Anti-Defamation League  “When you have all these elements present — a fraught political moment, a lot of misinformation and heavily armed groups — it’s just a question of time until something really dangerous happens,” said Lindsay Schubiner, program director at the Western States Center, which tracks militias and other extremist groups… These “self-styled vigilantes” often organize online, based around a loose joint belief that they are needed to help police, Segal said, “but there is no single coherent ideology that is necessarily linking them.”  While some militia groups have decades of history, other militia-style groups have formed recently — or added waves of new members — in response to government restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic and during the protests across the country over police violence this summer.  Their appearances have followed a now-familiar pattern. Often, there is a call to arms spread over social media, sometimes in response to Internet rumors or hoaxes that anti-fascist protesters were planning to loot or damage their communities. Then predominantly White and male civilians have convened at dozens of Black Lives Matter protests, lurking on the periphery, wearing military-style clothes, and carrying assault rifles and handguns. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/kenosha-guard-armed-militia/2020/08/26/b5c9fac4-e7a6-11ea-a414- 8422fa3e4116_story.html Another view on Private Militias: (from PF): Why sit there and just take it, why just be a doormat while yet another Black Lives Matter movement takes over our cities and towns, slowing down or blocking traffic, demanding loud and aggressive attention for themselves, rioting, looting, destroying buildings and monuments, with violence possible such as beatings and killings on either side of the line?  In addition, not only are the protesters not always peaceful, sections of them can break off and intimidate residence and business owners, especially if these inhabitants come outside and try to protect their property against vandalism, or decry any rough-housing or violence. In addition, there can be and often are sideshoots to the protests themselves, including media control which acts like spokespersons/infomercials for the Black Lives Matter movement; that is, a local newspaper is both applauding BLM and has members actively engaged in its movements.  In some cases, this has been a city or town’s primary newspaper for many years, but now has gone foul, becoming the mouthpiece for just one group.  Such nastiness can include infiltration into the city’s government so that even illegal aliens are handling things, as well as anti- American political supporters.  Such people can also be blocking regular American riot response teams.  They are also known to demand accommodation, apologies, memorials and legal changes just for the whole Black Lives Matter related system, ignoring the rest of American society.  The local media and infiltrating politicians are feeding into each other as a sort of “surround sound” to block other views and to keep real help getting to other people in the community.  So it’s not just the protests, peaceful or not, it’s the whole infiltrated infrastructure around them - the Zone of Influence (ZOI).  In addition, be careful about labeling.  Not all private militias are far right extremists; many include average citizens who are afraid of a takeover and destruction of their cities.  In addition, many include professionally trained combat veterans who have been taught how to stay calm in an emergency and how to stay focused on the true enemy while avoiding unneeded casualties and “friendly fire.”  Also be careful about getting opinions from either the Anti- Defamation League or the Southern Poverty Law Center, both suspicious organizations. Second Amendment Private Militias Law dot jrank Second Amendment: Private Militias, Government, Law, Freemen and Public https://law.jrank.org/pages/10067/Second-Amendment-PRIVATE-MILITIAS.html Excerpt:  Private militias are armed military groups that are composed of private citizens and not recognized by federal or state governments. Private militias have been formed by individuals in America since the colonial period. In fact, the Revolutionary War against England was fought in part by armies comprising not professional soldiers but ordinary male citizens….Approximately half the states maintain laws regulating private militias. Generally, these laws prohibit the parading and exercising of armed private militias in public, but do not forbid the formation of private militias. In Wyoming, however, state law forbids the very formation of private militias….Many private militias are driven by the insurrection theory of the Second Amendment. Under this view, the Second Amendment grants an unconditional right to bear arms for SELF-DEFENSE and for rebellion against a tyrannical government—when a government turns oppressive, private citizens have a duty to "insurrect," or take up arms against it.
