He entered an Alford plea to one petty misdemeanor count of battery and one misdemeanor count of stalking, of which Contreras was found guilty of in May after a trial in magistrate court. An Alford plea is a guilty plea in criminal court, whereby a defendant asserts his innocence, but admits the evidence would likely persuade a judge or jury to find him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
